    Abstract

    In-situ TiC particle reinforced ZA70 composites have been fabricated by adding the Al-Ti-C powder blocks into molten aluminum ZA70 alloy.It was found that the co-presence of brittle Al3Ti flakes with TiC particles is observed in the composites with melting at 900 ℃,while the presence of TiC particles can be only observed in ones with the melt temperature increased to 1 300 ℃.Occurrence of TiC particles can improve the strength at room and high temperatures and slightly deteriorate the elongation of the composites.However,the formation of Al3Ti flakes can weaken the strengthening effects of TiC particles.
