Effects of Zr on Glass Forming Ability and Thermal Stability of Fe-Al-Ga-P-C-B-Si Amorphous Alloy
Effects of Zr on glass forming ability and thermal stability of Fe-Al-Ga-P-C-B-Si amorphous alloy have been analyzed by XRD and DSC.The experimental results reveal that the alloy retains amorphous features with Zr content less than 2.0%(atom percentage).Although the DSC curve had no obvious glass transition
the XRD observation indicated that the alloy with 1% Zr content(atom percentages)
which is attributed to the exothermic peak of initial crystalline phase
had blanketed glass transition.DSC curves of the alloy with 0.5% and 2% Zr contents presented apparent glass transition temperature and wider undercooled liquid region
respectively
and the position of crystalline exothermic peak shifted towards higher temperature area
which reveals that the alloy have high glass forming ability and thermal stability. In addition
the thermal stability was verified by the parameters γ.
