Creep Behavior of TICp,Particulate Reinforced 2024 Aluminum Matrix Composites
The creep behavior of in-situ 15TiCp particu-late reinforced 2024 aluminum matrix composites was evaluated at various temperatures. The results indicate the in-situ 15TiCp/2024 Al composites exhibits excellent high temperature creep strength. The density change of the composite is increased with increasing in creep strain and creep time
and the change is higher at lower temperature than that at higher temperature.Creep rupture can be created as a result of creep damage resulting from the density change reaching to a certain extent. The creep strength of the composites can be improved
which is attributed to the interaction between the dislocation and the second phase particle. The morphology of creep fracture shows that the cavi-ties are usually created at the habitat of one particle or several particles
which continuously propagate with increasing in temperature to result in the ductility rupture
showing temperature distinctly controlling the creep process.
