Effects of WC on the Microstructure and Wear Resistance of Fe-based Laser-cladding Coating
The laser cladding of Fe-based alloy with different content of WC including 0
2.5%
3.5%
4.0%
4.5% and 5.0%
on a 45 steel substrate has been performed by a laser with automatic powder feeding system. The microstructure
micro-hardness and wear resistance of the coating have been investigated by means of scanning electron microscope(SEM)
electron probe micro-analysis(EPMA)
X-ray diffraction(XRD)
micro-hardness tester and wear testing. The results indicate that the WC addition mainly change the interdendrite of the coating and form W2C phase. The hardness and wear resistance of the Fe-based alloy can be greatly improved as a result of the generation of amounts of finer particle with appropriate WC content.
