Friction and wear behavior of in-situ MoSi2 and its composites by SPS
a spark plasma sintering (SPS) was employed to synthesize high-density MoSi2 and MoSi2-SiC composite. Friction and wear behavior of MoSi2 and MoSi2-SiC composite were investigated. The results show that with increasing of loads
friction coefficient of the synthesized materials decreased and wear rate got minimum value with load being 150 N. Addition of SiC
the wear rate of MoSi2-SiC composites reduced gradually and the wear resistance of the composites was better than that of single MoSi2. The study of wear mechanism shows that adhesions
slight oxidation and fatigue are coactively caused the worn of MoSi2. However
those are mainly oxidation
shifting and tearing off of friction layer for MoSi2-SiC composite.
