Effects of different RE La additions on as-cast microstructure
mechanical properties
aging behavior and aging sequence of 6063 aluminum alloy have been investigated by hardness tester
DSC(differential scanning calorimetry)
XRD(X-ray diffraction) and SEM(scanning electron microscope).It is found that the dendrite in alloy can be evidently refined and mechanical properties can be improved with proper La addition
meanwhile
the aging precipitation sequence can not be changed.However
mechanical properties of alloy can be obviously deteriorated with the increase of La addition
which is attributed to the creation of coarse AlFeSiLa compound restricting the precipitation of the β" and β’ phase and reduced Mg2Si phase.
