This paper presents the progress in the investigation of semisolid aluminium alloy design
billet preparing for semisolid processing
the numerical simulation and experimental studies on thixoforming as well as some main achievements in this field. We have presented a new method of semisolid alloy design
and successfully produced for the first time in the world the large scale billet of 500mm in diameter for semisolid slurry. The grain size is fine and uniformly distributed in the billet
which satisfies the requirement of semisolid processing.
