Safe Problems in Manufacturing of Foam Magnesium Alloy by Vacuum Infiltration
Abstract
Safe problems in manufacturing of foam magnesium alloy by vacuum infiltration were approached. The reasons of burning and explosion of magnesium alloy during vacuum infiltration were analyzed
and the countermeasures were proposed. The results indicate that the burning of magnesium alloy after infiltration is related to the material of mould
pouring temperature
pre-heated temperature of mould and preforms. The burning possibility of magnesium alloy after infiltration can be effectively decreased with using permanent mould
strictly controlling pouring temperature and pre-heated temperature of mould and preforms. The explosion of magnesium alloy melt during infiltration is closely related to the reaction of the melt with H2O or O2
so the explosion of magnesium alloy melt can be avoided by modifying experimental devices and strictly controlling H2O content during infiltration.
