Abstract

We have developed an experimental device to examine the reaction of magnesium alloy with N2 under static condition,especially ignition point of Mg and Mg alloy.It is found that ignition point of Mg alloy under nitrogen atmosphere can be increased with additions of Y,Ce,Nd and Ca,especially Ca addition.Ignition point of Mg-3Y and Mg-3Ca can be decreased with Ce addition,while ignition of Mg-1Nd alloy can be greatly increased with Ca addition.Ignition point of Mg alloy under nitrogen atmosphere is obviously higher than that of ones in air.
