Effect of Outfield Treatment on Structure Refinement of Horizontal Continuous Casting Al-1Si Alloy
The effect of electromagnetic field and ultrasonic field on the grain refinement of horizontal continuous casting Al-1Si alloy microstructure was investigated. Experimental results show that: with electromagnetic field outside the mold
the solidification structure of the alloy is refined with the increase of current
but when the current increases to 120 A
the microstrucrure becomes coarse; with 1000w power ultrasonic field
the solidification structure is refined and the grain size reduces from 94.1 μm to 31.2 μm. The mechanism of the refinement of Al-1Si under electromagnetic field and ultrasonic field is preliminary discussed.
