Aiming at the operating conditions, the dual-metal compound hammerhead was manufactured by an electro-slag smelting-casting method,in which high Cr cast iron was used for the hammer head and carbon structural steel was used for the hammer handle. The microstructure of the hammerhead exhibits full metallurgical bonding in the interface, which is composed of martensite and dispersively distributed M7C3 phase with high hardness after heat treatment. The hardness of working location of the hammerhead makes HRC5658.The practical operation indicates that the service life of dual-metal compound hammerhead is higher about two times than that of high Mn steel ones.
