Microstructure and Properties of the Ceramic Coating Formed by Micro-arc Oxidation on a Cast Hypereutectic Aluminum Alloy
thermal-shock resistance and thermal stability of the ceramic coatings produced by micro-arc oxidation on a cast hypereutectic Al-14Si-5Cu-3Ni-1Mg alloy were analyzed by micro-hardness testing
XRD(X-ray diffraction)
SEM(scanning electron microscope)
the Tafel curves
DSC(differential scanning calorimetry)and TG(thermal-gravity).It is found that the ceramic coating consists of a compact layer composed of α-Al

which is responsible for the improvement of the corrosion resistance.Meanwhile
the hardness of the ceramic coating reaches HV 2400 with desirable thermal-shock resistance and thermal stability.
