    Abstract

    Taking commercial Ti and Al powders as reactants,Al3Ti powders were fabricated by sintering directly. Meanwhile,effects of Ti/Al molar ratio and sintering temperature on fabrication of pure Al3Ti powder were investigated. The results reveal that finer Al3Ti powder can be prepared with a higher Al/Ti molar ratio of 1∶2.5 by sintering directly compared with the theoretical value of 1∶3,so it is concluded that there exists Ti nucleus in Al3Ti powder prepared by sintering directly. The SEM observation and EDS analysis verify the presence of Ti nucleus in the Al3Ti particle.
