Ironing process for high strength Ti alloy was simulated by rigid-plastic FEM(finite element method). The grid chart and the metal flow velocity chart in marked point were presented during ironing process.Through the analysis of the velocity change of every marked point
it is concluded that formation of sunken end face is attributed to the flow velocity change of surface metal of the billets relative to center metal.Based on above analysis
effects of conical face shape of cavity mould and frictional resistance on ironing process were described.
