Thermal-physical Properties of Two Kinds of Mg-Gd-Y-Zr Magnesium Alloys
thermal diffusivity and linear expansion coefficient of Mg-10Gd-3Y-0.5Zr (GW103) and Mg-12Gd-3Y-0.5Zr (GW123) alloys were measured at different temperatures. The results reveal that at a given temperature
the specific heat capacity of GW103 alloy is higher than that of GW123. With the temperature below 200℃
the thermal conductivity of the GW103 alloy is more than that of the GW123 alloy
while with the temperature more than 200℃
that of GW123 alloy is higher. With increasing in temperature
the thermal diffusivity of the GW103 alloy is always higher than that of GW123 alloy. In addition
at a given temperature
the linear expansion coefficient is lower than that of GW123 alloy. The chemical composition and high temperature transformation of phase in the alloys are closely related to the thermal-physical properties of the alloys.
