Application of Vacuum and Partial Pressurization in Die Casting Automobile Components
Combination of vacuum and partial pressurization was adopted to eliminate the gas hole and shrinkage porosity in die casting automobile components. Four kinds of comparative experimental designs were presented including conventional die casting
vacuum die casting
partial pressurization die casting and combination of vacuum and partial pressurization. The results indicate that gas hole in die casting components can be eliminated by vacuum die casting
and shrinkage porosity in thick location of the castings can be solved
and both gas hole and shrinkage porosity can be relieved by combination of vacuum and partial pressurization method
which decrease the shrinkage porosity to 3.7% in the die casting components while shrinkage porosity in the conventional die casting components reaches 9.7%. In addition
the shrinkage porosity is decreased to 5.6% in partial pressurization die casting components.
