It is important to rationally choose chemical composition in the bismuth brass by investigating effects of elements in environmentally-friendly bismuth brass on its cutting properties. The results reveal that with increasing in Cu content

the cutting properties of the alloy are declined gradually

while with increasing in Bi content

cutting properties are improved gradually. In addition

with increasing in RE content

its cutting properties are firstly decreased and then increased

where the cutting properties are the same with 0.03% RE addition and 0.09 RE addition.
