Laser Cladding Al3Ti Coatings on AA6063 Aluminum Alloys
Laser cladding experiment was conducted on AA6063 aluminum alloy by pre-coating Al and Ti powder with 3∶1 in atomic ratio.The results reveal that coating with smooth surface and crack-free as well as porous free can be obtained by using proper laser power and scanning velocity.The coating is composed of Al3Ti dendrite and interdendritic pure Al phase
in which Al3Ti dendrite exhibits fine structure nearby surface of the samples and it exhibits coarse structure nearby the matrix
and desirable metallurgical bonding between the coating and matrix can be observed.The hardness of the coating reach up to Hv500
significantly improving the surface performance of the aluminum alloy.
