Abstract

Proper Sr and RE were added to A356 alloy during remelting to improve the microstructure of the alloy.Effects of complex addition of Sr and RE on primary phase size,eutectic Si morphology and mechanical properties of the alloy were investigated by optical microscope,XRD (X-ray diffraction) and tensile testing.The results reveal that during remelting,complex addition of Sr and RE can greatly refine grain size in the alloy and improve the modification effects of eutectic Si.Comprehensive mechanical properties of the alloy can be greatly improved by adding proper complex Sr and RE addition,where tensile strength is increased from 153MPa to 252MPa after modification,and elongation is increased from low than 5% to more than 13%.
