Preparation of semi-solid AZ91D-3Ca magnesium alloy under low voltage pulsed magnetic field was conducted
and effects of pre-heating temperature of mould and pouring temperature on morphology of primary phase in the alloy were investigated. The results show that
through controlling cooling rate of the alloy
semi-solid AZ91D-3Ca magnesium alloy billets with rosette structure primary phase can be prepared successfully by low voltage pulsed magnetic field. Under low voltage pulsed magnetic field
with increasing in preheating temperature of mould and decreasing in pouring temperature
primary phase dendrites are degraded gradually. Primary phase can be changed from well-developed dendrite to rosette structure under low voltage pulsed magnetic field with only high preheating temperature of the mould or lower pouring temperature.
