Cu-Ti3AlC2 cermets were prepared by powder metallurgical process. The composition and microstructure of the specimens were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscope(SEM).Meanwhile
effects of Ti3AlC2 content on the density
Vickers hardness
flexural strength
fracture toughness and electric conductivity of Cu-Ti3AlC2 cermets were investigated. The results show that with increasing in sintering temperature
peak position of Cu diffraction shifts to low angles as a result of Al solid solution. With increasing in Ti3AlC2 content
density and fracture toughness of the specimens are gradually decreased
and the Vickers hardness and electric conductivity are increased
while flexural strength exhibits firstly increase and then decrease. With 30% Ti3AlC2 content
the cermets exhibit desirable comprehensive properties
where Vickers hardness
flexural strength
fracture toughness and electric conductivity reach up to 1.7GPa
