Microstructure and Properties of Squeezing Casting Al-6.8Zn-2.6Mg-2.3Cu Alloy
castability and mechanical properties of squeezing casting Al-6.8Zn-2.6Mg-2.3Cu alloy were investigated by OM (optical microscope)
SEM (scanning electron microscope) and DSC (differential scanning calorimetry)
and a comparative analysis with those of Al-5.5Si-4.0Cu alloy was performed. The results reveal that fluidity of Al-6.8Zn-2.6Mg-2.3Cu alloy is 10.9% and 2.9%
respectively
higher than that of Al-5.5Si-4.0Cu alloy with pouring the melt at 720℃ and at 740℃
respectively.Tensile strength and elongation of the as-cast Al-5.5Si-4.0Cu alloy are higher somewhat than that of the as-cast Al-6.8Zn-2.6Mg-2.3Cu alloy with squeezing pressure increasing from 0.1MPa to 75MPa.However
tensile strength increase of the T6 treated Al-6.8Zn-2.6Mg-2.3Cu alloy is higher 100MPa than that of the T6 treated Al-5.5Si-4.0Cu alloy
which is attributed to the more effective dispersed strengthening of the Al-6.8Zn-2.6Mg-2.3Cu alloy during artificial ageing.
