Fabrication of TiAl3 Reinforced Al-Si Composites with High Gradient Magnetic Field
TiAl3 particle reinforced Al-Si gradient composites were successfully prepared by adjusting super-conductive high magnetic field based on difference of susceptibility between the matrix alloy and the reinforcement. Distribution of TiAl3 particles in the solidification structure was observed
and effects of high magnetic field on motion behavior of the reinforcement were approached. Meanwhile
micro-hardness of the gradient composites was measured along axial direction. The results show that the micro-hardness exhibits gradient distribution in axial direction
which verifies the gradient distribution of reinforcement in the solidification structure.
