    Abstract

    Using digital quantitative image analysis system, effects of variation of equivalent area diameter and average area fraction of primary Si phase in different positions and Si particle diameters in super slow speed die casting hypereutectic Al-Si alloy on tensile strength and hardness of the alloy were investigated. The results reveal that with increasing in wall thickness, equivalent area diameter and equivalent area fraction of primary Si phase are increased. In addition, with increasing in equivalent area diameter, mechanical properties of the die casting hypereutectic Al-Si alloy is obviously improved.
