Origination of periodical change of Si content in liquid aluminum alloy was described by analyzing Si change in A356.2 aluminum alloy melted by tower melting furnace.Comparative experiment and practical production were conducted.The results reveal that periodical change of Si content in the liquid A356.2 alloy is attributed to composition segregation of Si phase in the A356.2 ingot and special structure of tower melting furnace.Difference of Si content in melting stage and in holding stage was verified
