Thermal Conductivity of Al2O3/Cu Composites
Abstract
Al2O3/Cu composites were fabricated by high-energy ball milling and powder metallurgy method.Thermal conductivity of the composites at room temperature was investigated with double-specimens by laser pulse superposition method. It is found that thermal conductivity of the composites is decreased gradually with increasing in Al2O3 volumetric fraction
especially the volumetric fraction of Al2O3 more than 10%
which verifies the close relation of Al2O3 content with the thermal conductivity of the composites.Thermal conductivity is seriously dependent on interior defects and density of the composites. To obtain the Al2O3/Cu composites with desirable thermal behavior
it is considered by controlling the volumetric fraction of Al2O3 lower than 10% and improving density as well as decreasing the dislocation and voids in the preforms.
