Effects of Solution Treatment on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Mg-4Al-2Si Alloy
Effects of solid solution treatment(T4) on microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-4Al-2Si(AS42) alloy were investigated.The results show that the alloy at both as-cast and heat treatment states is composed of α-Mg matrix
β-Mg17Al12 phase and Mg2Si phase.Mechanical properties of the T4 treated alloy are remarkably improved as a result of partially dissolution of β-Mg17Al12 phase and the spheroidization of Chinese script Mg2Si phase.The fracture mechanism of the both as-cast and T4 treated alloy is characterized by quasi-cleavage brittle fracture.
