Numerical Simulation of Filling and Solidification of Large Complex ZTC4 Alloy Castings
Interface problem in the three-dimensional model and the software which was used to mesh the grid was resolved by modeling with the Solidworks and meshing grid with the Meshcast. Flow field and temperature field of ZTC4 frame-shaped parts during filling and solidification process were visualized to predict the possible location of shrinkage porosity and cold shut in the parts
which is well in agreement with the practical product. The simulated results were applied to optimize the process of the same type castings with the larger size and more complex structure
avoiding the generation of the similar defects.
