SiCp/ZL101A composites were prepared by hot-presses sintering process(HPS) with SiC particles of 10%
20%
30% and 40% in volume fraction. The hardness and dry frictional wear behavior at room temperature were measured
and the wear mechanism was approached. The results show that
with increasing in volume fraction of SiC particles
hardness of the composites is increased
and the maximum hardness value can be observed in the composites with 30% SiC content. The wear mechanism of the matrix ZL101A alloy is characterized by adhesion wear
while wear mechanism of the composites is characterized by adhesion wear with a little abrasive wear. With increasing in volume fraction of SiC particle
the adhesion wear is gradually reduced
which is responsible for the improvement of wear behavior of the composites.
