Slag Particle Moving Path Analysis in Continuous Casting Steel Ladle Based on Discrete Phase Model
Inclusion content has the great effects on the mechanical properties of the steel. The steel ladle slag is the main way to introduce inclusion into steel
so it is the key problem to prevent and control slag process in continuous casting production. The mixture phase moving process of molten metal and slag particles in bottom pouring steel ladle of continuous casting have been simulated by discrete phase model. The moving path of thirty slag floating particles selected at random has been tracked. Two stages
surface layer converging stage and rapidly involving stage
have been simulated. The results show that
although the moving path of single particle exhibits random direction
the whole movement of the slag particle cluster exhibits statistics characteristics.Based on the mentioned results
effects of slag particle size and density on slag height and time in steel ladle were analyzed.Average slag height and time are closely related with the slag particle size
while effects of slag particle density can be ignored.
