The die casting TiC/AlSi9Cu1.4Mg0.5 composite has been prepared successfully by both smelting in situ reaction and die casting technique. The mechanical properties of the composites were measured. The results showed that the ultimate tensile strength of the die casting TiC/AlSi9Cu1.4Mg0.5 composites with 354 MPa at room temperature and 272 MPa at 260 ℃
are higher by 26% and 46% than those of the matrix alloy(280 MPa and 186 MPa)respectively. The elongation of the die casting composite at room temperature and 260 ℃ are comparable to those of the conventional AlSi9Cu 1.4Mg0.5 alloy.
