In situ synthesized Mg2Si reinforced magnesium matrix composite was fabricated by addition Si.The microstructure of composites were made of the primary α-Mg
βphase(Mg17Al12)and reinforced phase Mg2Si by means of OM and XRD.The thermodynamics and kinetics mechanism of in situ synthesized Mg2Si were discussed.The kinetics model of in situ synthesized Mg2Si was established.The results show that the major factors which influence reaction rate are the system temperature
the size of Si particle and the thickness of diffusion middle layer.
