Research on the Microstructure and Properties of Hypereutectic Al-24Si Alloy Stirred by Electromagnetic Field
The primary silicon phases of hypereutectic Al-24Si alloy will be solidified into large plate on traditional condition. The primary silicon phases
however
are fined greatly and distributed homogeneously
and most of them are in nodular or polygonal shape when the alloy melt solidifying is stirred violently by electromagnetic field. A large number of sphere-like α-Al phases have also been found in the microstructure because of violent electromagnetic stirring effect. The tensile strength and elongation
and wear resistance of the thixformed semi-soli hypereutectic Al-24Si alloy have been promoted greatly by comparison with that of the traditional permanent casting of hypereutectic Al-24Si alloy.
