Methods to preventing Mg alloy from burning in domestic and foreign countries were introduced. In the methods
alloying element addition
including Ce rich RE
has the obvious effect on ignition proof of Mg alloy. The results showed that the addition of Ce rich RE could increase initial combustion temperature of Mg alloy by 70 ℃. In China with abundant Mg RE resource
the ignition proof of Mg alloy should be focused on RE addition
to prevent Mg alloy from burning and to promote wide application of Mg alloy at home using conventional cold chamber die casting machine.
