Abstract
By using self-made vibrating wavelike sloping plate setup
preparing semisolid billets of AlSi6Mg2 alloy was studied. It is shown that the semisolid billets with fine near spherical grains can be prepared by the proposed process
and the solidified shell on the sloping plate surface can be effectively avoided. When the speed regulation voltage is under 200V
microstructures of the billets become fine and more round with the increase of the speed regulation voltage. proper casting temperature ranges of 660~680 ℃ for preparing semisolid billet of AlSi6Mg2 alloy are suggested. Microstructure formation is affected by the complex actions of the nucleation thermodynamic conditions
