High-temperature Oxidation Behavior of Ni-Cr Alloys
- “Using a rapid life testing device, rapid life testing and electro oxidation tests were conducted on Ni Cr alloy wires at different temperatures. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) techniques were used to analyze the microstructure and chemical composition of the alloy wires, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) technology was used to conduct in-depth research on the phase composition of the oxide film. The results showed that as the oxidation temperature decreased, the rapid lifespan of Ni Cr alloy wire significantly increased. The growth process of the oxide film was consistent with the three-stage theory of the oxidation process, that is, in the 3-hour high-temperature electro oxidation test, the microstructure of the oxide film surface showed significant differences due to different oxidation temperatures. The increase in oxidation temperature led to an increase in the size of the oxide particles and the formation of delamination, cracks, and pores on the film surface. The oxide film of the three alloys is mainly composed of Cr2O3, which significantly enhances the oxidation resistance of the alloys at high temperatures”
