    Abstract

    The paper has studied the melting loss of Ca,Sr element in AZ91D magnesium alloy melt,under flux protection and protective atmosphere condition,respectively.The reasons for melting loss of Ca,Sr under flux protection are analyzed through thermodynamics aspect.The results show it is larger for the extent of melting loss of Ca,Sr under flux protection,even sharper for Sr.The main reasons are that Ca,Sr can react with chloride in flux.The tendency of thermodynamics is larger for the reaction between Sr and chloride.
